Rare 1979 Robinson finished
« on: January 29, 2012, 11:05 AM »
Well one of my holy grails is finished .. i didn't think i'd find one of these  :smitten:  I just needed the plate and the pads for the last few weeks ..
The reason this one is so hard to find because they only made it for a short while , ( less than a year )  my therory is the hole in the gusset was too much like a Mongosse or Cook bros and Chuck Robinson changed the gusset to a flat gusset towards the end of 79 and the following year the Famous RRP  Stamped gusset ..

I love the 78 Robbo i did last year but i think this one just takes it ..

As always looking for nice 70's parts most of this bike was sorced from outside the UK ...

Thanks To Steve ( firebird ) for taking the time with these pads .. they look Awesome  :daumenhoch:
Thanks to Snav for coming taking some Photos of her .. :daumenhoch:

Frame + Forks : Robinson Survivor frame , Re chromed Robinson forks :

Bars : Survivor Early Robinson Bars  ??? ..  Came with the bike

          Grips : NOS Oury

          Headset: NOS Tange Mx 2

Stem : Gen 1 Tuf Neck

Seat post : Steel Came with the bike

Seat : NOS Quilted Elina super-pro

Seat Clamp : Gen 1 Excaliber

Cranks: Campagnolo Strada 170 with Camy end caps

          Chainring Bolts:Campagnolo

          Chainring : NOS Campagnolo 44t

          Pedals : Bob Reedy

Brakes : NOS Shimano Tourney NOS pre bent lever

          Chain : NOS DID

         Hubs : Campagnolo Tipo

          Freewheel :  NOS Shimano 333

          Rims: NOS Weinmann

Here is how it all started .. poor thing

This Pad was One the bike when it arrived , i had no chance of getting off without breaking it ..

Steve did an amazing job to the mm  on the pads he made ..

Thanks For Looking

I am really getting worried now as this is the 2nd chrome bike that I have fallen in love with in the last week on this site and I don't usually like chrome.

It really is a fooking beauty Carl, top top build mate.  :4_17_5:
