The way i see it is, that when were young we learnt to ride our burners and gooses till we felt that we were one with them - and mostly people upgraded and started to learn there new machine and start to push the limit again till they learned more

the first time you get on a NS it feels like riding a plank - every thing feels solid and a bit hard, the cranks feel part of the frame and bars seem a long reach wide and far from you - with OS you feel close to the bike and parts - with NS you soon learn that you have room and the solid feeling turns to just riding just one part put together

like any thing - the more you use it - the more you start to feel how it will react to every thing - the more you have control the more you will get from it

each time you switch from NS to OS and back again, it will feel strange - but you get used to it

Ride what makes you happy and motivates you to get out there and DO IT ... if you are 40 plus then thats the important thing

As it happens, that bike looks fine. If it has proper real actual sealed bearings in those wheels and not some pony dust seal bollocks, then it's a bargain

Find out some dimensions first though bud, before you put your hand in your pocket, just in case it has some kooky toptube or summat.

Go for it.

It might be a little bit long at 21"tt, but don't worry about that for your first ride. There's always a shorter stem out there and you can pull the bars back a smidge.

i don't know how tall you are but most completes like that stolen only come in 20" which for most of us oldies is a bit on the cramped side. if you're anywhere near or above 6 foot tall you'll need a 21" top tube

A bargain for sure.

Nice low BB and high bars make it ideal for old schoolers as it's more what you'll remember a bike to feel like...i.e. it doesn't push your bum so high in the air you feel like you are in front of the bars! These are much more stable and nice to ride.

Sunday are made by Odyssey, so quality for sure...we sell quite a few and always very reliable...in fact not one back from the 2012 range for anything!

I'd watch the quality on things like that Stolen and some of the other bikes mentioned in the thread...everything that glitters isn't necessarily gold. Believe me, we sell hundreds of bikes a year and you learn a lot by what comes back and what doesn't.

ok i went to see the stolen bike and i bought it .i got it for 160 euros which is about £130 so happy enough
its got a 20.75 top tube and to be honest feels ok when riding it (not as strange as i was expecting )
it might not be the best bike out there but for the money i wont complain

ok i will its a shite colour

(the guy i got it from bought it from chain reaction cycles at christmas and paid 408 euros for it )
i am not giving up on getting a better bike i just thought this would do as a stop gap to get me riding again
thanks for all the advice it has been appreciated .as i said i know nothing about new school rides so will be learning along they way .
so what parts do you reckon are week points on this bike whats going to brake and fall off

stodgy that sunday is a sweet looking bike and definatly at a bargin price .
Oh and i do take your point about all that glitters not being gold .
