new pics added of build as just trying one or two bits.originally had the most hideous 46t chainguard poss worst ever seen ;D have a new cheaper one with black plastic guard but put this one on.just like an opinion if suits bike at all and should leave as is,wont be offended and open to ideas :daumenhoch:

not built or resto'd anything for a while but this is one of a couple or three on the go,wasnt sure though about posting it on rad as may get wooden spoon of the year  ;D .not something anyone would do or want to do even but thought for a change as never see one before i'd have a go

not a vdc or jmc or se even as i dont have that sort of funds at mo but a 1981 german kalkhoff picked up for a few quid off on bw looking like this

this is 1st part of build done after power and some cracking decals from a kind friend before he stopped doing em,just 1st bit so far piccys  want to add a retro 70's type look to it when done  :D

some of the parts now ready to go on,originals from bike just freshened up a little  ;D brakes and stem

chrome too far gone on bars and crank so both now same colour as forks

pads based on original very faded nylon ones now in vinyl with gold lettering done by steve

That was my first BMX. Mine was a Kalkhoff Spitfire. Exactly the same except mine had some sort of nasty light blue plastic coating on the bars. Wasn't the best bike bike in the world but its what got me started. Brings back memories of ramps made from a pile of bricks and a plank of wood.

Looking good, it's nice to see the less familiar makes every now and then. Nice colour combo.  :daumenhoch:

Awesome mate, like to see lower end bikes given some love too.

Keep it real, most of us started on something like this  :daumenhoch:

I think if we don't save stuff like this it will be a shame - most of us started on lesser bmx's and found a love for the game - most may have moved on, but you got to respect the roots of why you started bmxing

top work there and i love the underdog shinning through  >:D

There have been a few Kalkhoffs turn up - like the viceroys - not much know but they were out there at the time

have this in the shed
