Good or bad welding ? MONGOOSE TS '82
« on: February 17, 2012, 10:58 PM »
stripping the goose trickstar down to see what it's like - hard stuff to shift (not sure powder or paint ?)

have a look at the welds and tell me if the welder was good at his job and knew his stuff or is it standard welding from some one who isn't into bike frames, please  ;)

needs a bit of sorting

cheers B

Is that the one that was on the bay a while back? welds look fine to me  :-\
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

:2gunsfiring_v1: yes  ;D  it was welded all the way round - when it got to a certain part, i could get a hacksaw blade down there and hammer it on it's self back round and then yank it out  ::)

i don't know what it was cut in the first place ?

the frame under is a nice chrome - it yet to see how it would have come up if it didn't have the stands welded - but it looks like a fresh frame was used ?  ???

'82 frame but don't know when the stands were added ?

what year did the decades come out ?

i would have thought if the frame stands had of been added around '86/7 ish then the frame would have shown more wear and dings or scrapes ?  but apart from the drop outs it looks fresh so far ?

I'd say it was done in the UK, the added on bits look like bare metal and not chrome plated like the rest of the frame, but the welder has been very consistent with the og welding  :daumenhoch:

I can see where he missed a bit  ::)  and i'm not quite sure if the back two down stands on the rear stand are symmetrical but are close

will take a pic when i get all the paint off (if ever i can  :tickedoff:)
