Mk1 and mk2 dirtbikes were made with and without gussets. I think it was down to who made it, where it was made, what day of the week it was, and if they'd run out of gussets! Haha

Did you notice some of em have a tubular chain stay bridge and the seat tubes drilled for a cable

Mines a flat bridge, no hole in the seat tube

It has the front gussets but they've got hairline cracks...  :'(

it seems all the early s&m are mish mash of different tubing from slightly earlier or later models, maybe down to all the different manufactuers and chainging designs and then back etc...

havent seen hardly any mk3 holmes that  differ from the norm so maybe thats when everything got standardised
the only one ive seen is that mk3 holmes on ebay with 2 peice dropouts and flat plate brake and seat stay bridges :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

I didn't notice the gap,  the welds round the outside of the dropouts haven't been smoothed out where the 2 dropouts were welded together.... i should have said in my earlier post...  :crazy2:

Shocking quality control...  :police:

Good job they're no longer around today...  :knuppel2:

Super nice Holmes....Love that Vetta seat too. I was looking for a Vetta seat the same as yours when I was building my Holmes but couldn't find one.

Nothing at S&M was ever set in stone... 990 mounts, gussets, dropout thickness, cable guides, even stickers.. always varied.
Even now ... my custom ATF arrived... without a toptube gusset like it should have ! Bloody Friday at 4pm frames eh? !!!

Might as well post up a pic of my Mk2 Holmes. If only do dilute the amount of chrome on this thread!  ;)

Wow, thats a nice one.

Those decals always make me think of Todd Lyons cos he was riding a Holmes with them in an Interview he had. At the time it always confused me. Why would you want people to think you were riding a Haro  :crazy2:

It went pretty high. It cant all have been for the DK stem can it  :-\

Prices do seem high, especially in the states

Check this one, no gusset, £164 for the frame only

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320822720239'ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_969

Seller split the frame/forks....  :-\

£80 for the forks

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220924579357'ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_969

That's £244 for the frame/forks!

This is all making the Mk1 for sale on RAD look a bargain
(and yes, I would have bought the red mk1 in a second if I had the money!  :smitten:)
