They are all evolutions of the RV frame , a neal wood is a 21.25 RV with an internal headset and euro BB. The 38 special is a trimmed down version of the neal wood with a machined internal headset, thinner tubing, reduced dropout size and a slightly shorter back end
I have a neal wood frame for sale if any body is interested

I might be persuaded to part with my 2004 R/V 21" Frame

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=135190.0

This bike has the best flow out of all my S&M's. Super sweet to ride, even Street and Park.

It's just to beautiful to ride everyday and have no more room for Show'ers.

Neal Woods, 38's and R/V's are all killer.

Keep the Faith.L

I've got a late oversized challenger and my mate has an early oversized challenger. We should line them all up. Plot the evolution of "modern" S&M race frames

actually thats would be quite good,

i still think i need a RV tho, i sold (gave away!!!!) mine to Dan Clifford back in 2000 ish, i bet he aint got it now hes stateside.

so yeah that would be a good idea, plot the race bikes from challenger to 38 (even that had changes made)

The red challenger is a bit of a funny one cos its got a chainstay U brake rather than a seat stay Canti. The story I heard was that the U brake challengers were by request of Neal Wood, but I dont know if its true. I did my best to snap the front end off the bike at MK last year
The bike won .... and i lost!  :crazy2:

The blue challenger came with a seat stay canti brake but I ground it off and put on Ubrake mounts. I rode it for a good few years, pretty much exactly like its still built now.

The chrome challenger has my fav challenger brake setup: Seat stay Canti mounts, Seat stay wishbone, cable stop on the wishbone  :smitten:
I think they only did this on the early 1 1/8 challengers.

i never noticed it had canti brakes!!

i was too mezmerized by it, they are by far my fave race bike.

I didnt think Neal rode the challenger long before he went onto the rv> then his sig frame, still its a good one.

i did hear that during all the development/changes/fiddeling about, that there were a few differing designs,

just as a point, do you know whos got any of the race jerseys in as im after one. i tried all the usual suspects but nothing, i want the one bennett always wore for dirt jumping, the large crested one.

Neal road a challenger for a while. He rode a 1" one, right tho the versions of 1 1/8, till they stopped doing them for the RV and TV frames.

Is that the race shirt that either had a #1 or an oval on it? They did both of them again on a re-issue run a while ago but I can see them on the 4down or S&M site any more so maybe they aint doing them any more
