David Maw 3x World Champ taken from us 15 years ago today

Today, December 6th 1996, 15 years ago David Maw lost his life in a tragic car accident.

David was a triple World Champion winning back to back titles in Japan 84', Canada 85' and Slough England in 86'. David appeared on televison many times and was not only a great ambassador for the sport but was a bloody rad kid as well. Gone but not forgotten. RIP David.

I rode at Grimsby with David and his older brother Jonathon (Jonty) in the 80's.
He was such a down to earth kid who just got on with things.
It was an absolute pleasure to know him and his family.

i'm sure i got some tv footage of david maw where he is interviewed and riding his backyard 1/4 and also jumping a car to flat. crazy when you consider how young he is at the time.

that 1/4 pipe in their garden was 8', and it felt like it had 6' of vert, it was a mare, but he rode it like it was nothing,
yeah that car jump, does it show where John his dad was giving him a ''talking to'' before he jumped it? lol

Was just reading about david Maw in an old bmx racer magazine,also had a free pick of him in the mag,think he was riding for the Falcon Flyers grandstand team bitd and about 10 years old? Rip D Maw that lad could motor!
