Any good for a first bike in years? This isn't the actual bike but looks the same, it's a 20.5" frame, haven't bought it yet but thinking about it. It's going cheap and is apparently in good nick.

Honest opinions welcome

I'd say its fine for the money, if its no good you can knock it out on eBay for the same

I wouldn't be keeping it like this though, i'd change the bars and have the frame powder coated, so £30 for the bars and £70 for the powder coat brings it to £170, also £10 for a new seat so it's £180 when I'm done, starting to sound expensive now.........

Is the gold one any good?

looks ok for that money ..i`d leave the paint as it is and spend what that would have cost you on a cassette wheel and a 25t sprocket, appart from that it`ll do you fine ,only change the bars if you need bigger ones ...

I almost bid on a 2009 Freestyler last night, it went for £335, in the end my friend bought it.

Are they any good for that sort of money of is it all hype and nostalgia?

And the Gold BMX? Might be able to get that for £150 - £160 as the shop messed me around and wasted 2 days of me not being at work waiting around for a bike, they are willing to do a deal for me now.

How about the way the cables are actually attached to the frame and not the rotor, is that ok?

To be honest I'd go with the £70 one and just get riding......or if you want a top notch bike spend £200 on a good used one

stick with the 70 quid one , you can get a good enough caseete wheel and a sprocket off ebay without spending daft money , it`ll be good enough for the type of riding we do on them , unless you`re some kind of bestwick clone

What about with a layback seatpost? does the 1/2 inch make that much difference?

Yes it will feel small and cramped, layback won't make any difference unless you're sat on it

I'm 5' 5" and ride a 20.5" tt it feels just right for me, i've another bike with a 20.75" tt and it feels too long for me... $:-\$

your never 5 ft 5 .? dubbers taller than you and hes only 2ft 6

only joking 21 plus will be good 20.5 will feel bit cramped
