Stuck on choice
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:02 PM »
I'm thinking of doing a "dirtbros" style bike but I'm stuck for starters with it.

I'm thinking

Old Skool frame, poss Raleigh? As they are cheap
Gt forks 1" naturally
Skyway mag up front, 36 chrome back
4 pc bars, power lite or gt
1pc crank

That's my thoughts

But then, do I do a modern variant and start with s&m dirt bike
And go from there.

A nice faded blue ally hubbed tuff up front.

oooh, look what i've found under the bench!

I've got a 5mm thick ally bash ring too, 110 bcd, good for up to 42t rings.

I was also doing a DB tribute,  but found a NOS 2hip pork instead.

Good luck if thats the route you take, I shall watch with interest.

'Ello Brother

The Raleigh is a great idea if your not going to ride it. will be easy to make it look like the real thing and way cheaper.

But i used a 2011 United L40 Frame for my Dirt Bros Homage bike with some midschool parts including some Rudd Racing forks where the fork leg extends beyond the Dropouts like the original Redline forks that came with the Dirt Brothers TA framesets.

and I ride it all the time.

I also ran a front OGK wheel (Cheers ED209) but had to take it off as it was like a softer version of a Z-Rim.

Got the Dirt Bros downtube n headtube stickers from the Main Man DEL as he he has the correct official scans.

My advice is do it as a rider with NS frame and you will enjoy riding the DB way.

Keep the Faith Brother. L

I would look out for a cheap complete on eBay. Then just powder and decal it. Plus change one wheel for a tuff. That would be the cheapest option.  :daumenhoch:

Know what your sayin'

I saved money by using Mid school bits that cost hardly owt. ie Forks £10 NOS wheels £25 from BMXCITY's Mid school stash.

I've now taken the OGK off and got a 2.10 powerblock (14.99 from Chain-reaction) on the back but still got the shit seat. Haha

I would use at least a Mid-school frame (dead cheap at the mo') then you will be able to ride it as well as show it.

Mine puts a smile on my face and everybody who sees it when I ride it

Remember to post pics when done.

Fook it - I'd chip in for a TA so you can get bits welded onto it and thrash the arse of it  :D
