Hey gang, Was having a few thoughts today on what brakes to put on my new rider. Have got a pair of the more popular old skool calipers, but what is your ultimate levers, calipers and block combo. C'mon lads, lets hear 'em.......................

Never tried nippons, are the 883's porkchop sells the same in performance?

Yes they are the same dude

In the 80's they were made in Japan, hence the word 'Nippon' stamped on the arm but when Porkie got Dia Compe to make them for re-issue, they had to leave the 'Nippon' part off for obvious reasons

They are the same caliper though. The DC adjuster is not quite the same quality as the old ones

Lever wise, as Wildon says, Tech 7's, but they will set you back some dosh, $150 plus for a set to resto, if you can find them of course, so go for the equally as good Tech 77's

Pick them quite cheap

I like the white DC pads for alloy rims and feet for skyways, nylon wheels etc. Its the best way of stopping them

For me, mx880's get me hot, especially when white or chrome..

Fav levers are Tech 3s. For 1 finger braking, these are the only levers I fave found that deliver enough power..

Hey FR, do you mean the vans feet pads?

I must admit punkd, 880/901 combo is my fave, might try some nippons though

as most pads on Nylon rims are pants

I have heard 'stickies' are pretty good though $:-\$

DC880's are my favvy with Nippons a close second

These Kool Stop Eagle II Salmons are wicked on alloys too dude

Depends on how much you care about being era correct.880/901 is my personal fave or even 880/880.Nippons didnt come out til a year or two later i think,someone will probably correct me!

I think 880's came out '85 bro, Nippons came out '86 so spot on there

Recently added an ACS Boa to the front of Master replacing a Nippon, far superior stopping power with the Boa and with my arse off the seat pops endo's no problem.

I've got the 6mm bolt version so no drilling needed, they are more commonly found with 10mm bolts but if you wait the 6mm's do come up.

Same for me Robbo, added a front and rear Boa, and they are the bolox when it comes to stopping power!

I'm going tech 7 levers with some new school xposure pads, works a treat on alloy rims

Anyone got the ultimate mag pad?

Has anyone used the soft clear pads I keep seeing?
