I do love a discussion on personal opinions.

I like my sandwiches cut into 4 triangles rather then squares.  :daumenhoch:

But... if you look on the back of the 400 spider it has machined edges for the chainring to sit on, the front one is shaped for the style rather than the function. You can clearly see it in your wrong pic  :daumenhoch:

Nowt wrong with your opinion fella. Would be a boring world if we all thought the same.

 :daumenhoch:

Personally i prefer them on the back, think Profile Box cranks, Redline 400s and some suginos as the spiders are works of art and should be shown off. Others arent so nice so should be hidden  ;)

thats lush! but theres no way you would have specced $hit tyres like those back in the day, if youve got panaracers - stick them on and bin the halfords whitewalls! :)

I beg to differ :

I rode with whitewalls as a kid too, i still have one in the garage which is one of the few parts that stayed with me all the way from the early 80's.

I think the bike looks great with whitewalls, it's your bike so it doesn't really matter if other people don't like it :daumenhoch:

I fcuking hate whitewalls. Always have.

But I was in a minority of one back in '82. Everyone around me ran them. I used to use Halfords shopper tyres, all black. My local shop manager used to keep a stock of them aside for me as they wore out at an astonishing rate. Ok grip though.
