Pilgrim are/were owned/started by John Buultjens. He's a long time BMXer from Scotland but moved to Australia a while ago. I had heard that he was going to sell the company so maybe thats when Avocet got involved. I was surprised how big Pilgrim are (down under) but I dont know much about John Buultjens. He might have been loaded before he started the company.

Its cool that Campbell is involved in BMX again, but im not sure what he can offer. He's been out of it for a while. Hopefully he'll do a good job for John. I dont care what he does for Avocet. Im sure they'll drop Campbell/Pilgrim/John Buultjens in a second if they think its best for business.

john buultjens is a good friend of mine, used to ride with him when he lived in dundee. he was a joint owner of forgotten bikes then sold his half of the company and started up pilgrim bikes. don't think he has any plans of selling up though unless it's to fund his haro fetish, best collection of masters and sports i,ve ever seen. i still have the pilgrim video he made on vhs years ago.

How bizarre. Pilgrim are relatively unknown in the UK for a company started by a Scottish dude, Alans were distributing hem only last year... then the next we hear hey are being disrtibued by peddlars of low rent skyway/rooster sh1t. I hope i works ou for Pilgrim, as hey are well thought of down under.

So are Avocet involved in/with Pilgrim bikes now? I knew that Campbell started working for Pilgrim recently but this thread (and the link) is the only place Ive seen Avocet connected to Pilgrim.
I kinda hope its not the case.  :-\

Craig was an awesome ambassador for UK BMXers  :4_17_5: :4_17_5: :4_17_5:

but I feel his decision to join Avocet may have been something to do with  the effects  of 3.04 in  on this video  :crazy2:

Just had the pleasure of meeting Craig today and seeing the new line of Pilgrim bikes....  very nice!!   8)

According to a guy that I know who works at Halfords, they are only selling one model (perhaps exclusive?) and this is online only.

Cheers

Max

Pilgrim is no longer with a BMX distributor [ Tabletop BMX = Alans] but are now in the same stable as Rooster, Pirhana, Coyote etc as far as UK distribution... but as far as ownership I have no idea - I think perhaps they are still rider owned, bu now distributed by a non BMX roots distributor. that doesnt mean its a bad thing - works well for Haro !

was speaking to john online a while back and he was considering moving to the states to really try and make a go of it with the brand. all the industry seems to be based there and he does so much travelling. good luck if he does.

to be honest, i think john just wants to sell as many bikes as possible. if that means through non bmx shops then thats up to him. some may say he's selling out but he has some great riders on the team and he loves bmx. there was also a chrome blyther model out a while ago.  :daumenhoch:

As far as I am aware, Pilgrim will only be sold through a few 'exclusive' dealerships (shops) that 'specialise' in BMX.  Avocet seem to have a big plan for these and it does not involve bombarding every bike shop in the land with Pilgrim bikes!  They actually already carry some high end brands that are drip fed out to certain dealers.  As an earlier post said, it works well for Haro...  Craig has been brought in to deal solely with Pilgrim and they are being very selective who gets them.  I've seen the line up and I can't wait to get some on my shop floor!!   8)

Cheers

Last year Craig moved away from the 22" and was riding a BSD (20"!). It was cool cos Grant Smith (BSD owner) has been a massive Campbell fan for years.

BSD, and now Pilgrim. Maybe Craig has a thing for scottish BMX companies  ;D

We are pleased to announce our latest team member, UK legend Craig Campbell. For those of you that don't know Craig he is arguably the most cutting edge UK rider from the 1980s. Craig was mainly known as a vert rider but was one of the first guys progressing street and mini-ramp riding, responsible for inventing tricks such as nosepicks on vert, peg grinds and the 540 wallride. We hooked him up with a new bike consisting of BSD and Primo parts with the help of Stu Dawkins at Seventies Look out for more news on Craig soon...
