Mid school trends for bikes

was gonna say about using more more than one seatclamp but it is kinda mentioned in an earlier post about double clamps(haro.pergrine etc).

don't forget frame bolt on bashguards. a few different ones out there not just the bashguard chainrings.

fat rims- i remember my sabbath with those double wall thickness alex rims. all black primo tyres was another thing that everyone followed.

if using peregrine bars cutting off the lower end clamp and using the middle bar for the stem clamp- this was primarily flatlanders though.

round our way if you could'nt afford a set of hp48's  then a tuff on the back spoke up front   ( opposit way round if you were Nottz area    )  and paint your bike with hammerite any color but gold that was not allowed   cred gained for shelling out the extra wedge for smoothrite    

also scumbag chainwheel for bb grind,    two cheap steel chainwheels bolted together grind the teeth of one or use a motorbike chain ,to fit over both sets of teeth,    won't fold in half if you snagged it on a bb grind

I remember everything on the jump/street bikes was added to make them stronger and more hardcore. This made these bikes so fooking heavy it was unreal!  However the flatland boys were drilling holes in everything trying to get there bikes as light as possible. I find it quite amusing that some of the flatland initiative that was poo poo'ed back in the day is now classed as the industry bench mark across all forms of bmx.

using mtb seats and sometimes levers (only if they look cool)   Also using old 80s crap left over in bike shops, chainrings, grips tyres etc, again it had to look right pink and neon stuff just meant you had gay tendencies, spraying bikes black was only done by chavs who had nicked them for the most part, bikes also got to have been rewelded in at least one spot

Funny thing is, at the time it was "new school" to me.  Now it's "mid" school (still not sold on that title).

I was thinking that the other day - we've technically run out of words for the next phase in bmx. Maybe new-school will become 'new-wave' bmx (fits due to the amount of skinny jeans you see now ), don't really agree with the branding though

Maybe should rename the lot:

Old School = Too short
Mid School = Too heavy
New School = 80's Revival

We are backing ourselves into a corner.
Like the current car numberplate system, which has already started to get meaningless.

My best guess is that the stupid name "midschool" will grow to include later years.
Time will tell.

Personally, I would call anything before 1990 oldschool, and after that it doesn't need a school.

The numberplate system is annoying, but it is easier to recognise than the older plates. I agree with the whole thing that only old school should be labelled, but if I had to class them it would be 88 as mid school.
