You can cannabalise any spare brake cable if you have one lying around,  it needn't be a fatty like the proper straddles   :)

wot is one of these as ive never heard of em lol

not 100% sure myself, but it looks like it's some sort of arrangement which crosses over the cables to your rear brake, something like in wolfy's pics.
remember reading a bit about ryan nyquist having one on his bike in a recent "Ride" mag and it was supposed to increase ur braking and help give an even pull to each brake arm, etc etc etc. maybe a load of b@lls, but was curious.

works well for me.
and I'm almost certain I swear less when fitting the dual cables, as opposed to the straddle and single cable set-up...
