1982 ballburnished Ripper finished.
« on: November 12, 2011, 05:54 PM »
This is my latest restoration. A 1982 PK Ripper ballburnished bmx

Found a while ago in a nice haul, Pk ripper is on the left on the pic build with 1 3/8 wheels.

Stripped the bike completely and collected some parts together that I had in stock.

Removed the scratches from the frame with electric sander and polished it afterwards.

Took some care of the brute stem

Added the decals on the frame and started building.

Did not took the Dx crank that I had in mind but a Sugino Sugino Super Maxy Cross with threads that were f**ked up as hell.

Result & partlist.

Frame: PK Ripper Looptail frame ball burnished
Forks: Non stamped Landing Gear forks
Handlebars: Se Powerwing handlebars high rising
Plate: 09 Stadium
Headset: Tioga beartrap II headset with black Tange headlock
Padset: Genuine Se Racing padset
Grips: Oakley.5 black
Stem: Restored Brute stem
Seatpost: Se Racing
Seat: Kashimax Aero black
Seatclamp: Tange Sc-2
Crank: Sugino Super Maxy Cross 170
Chainring: Sugino 43T
Bottom bracket: Sugino
Pedals: Mks bmx 10
Chain: Black/Silver Izumi chain
Brake: Dia Compe MX 1000 with Weinnman adjuster & black koolstop brake pads
Brakelever: Left Dia Compe MX Tech III
Rims: Skyway Tuff wheels II black metal flange
Tyres: Tioga Comp III 20 x 2.125 & 20 x 1.75

A special thanks to member "Graveldog" for swapping me the correct unstamped LG forks, thanks Chris !  :daumenhoch:

WOW fantastic haul what’s the story behind the find ?

And you’ve done a cracking resto on that PK it looks like it did 30 years or so ago parts we’d all put on bikes BITD

 :4_17_5:

If you want to sell the Quad  :daumenhoch:
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Some very nice restored parts on this and it looks superb  :4_17_5:. I'd have kept the OG decals though or if they needed replacing put the same colour ones back on, IMO the tan decals don't work that well on a burnished frame, I don't think tan decals were standard on a post 79 frame but could be wrong as per usual  ;D

You maybe correct on that , but I don't like the baby blue, to much rippers with that color IMO. It's cool to be straight to the point though   :daumenhoch:

At the end of the day you build your bikes how you like them and want them to look, if you don't like something don't use it  :daumenhoch: there are plenty of bikes built for others to like rather than what the owner wants so thumbs up for doing it your way  :daumenhoch:
