to make it shiny  ;D

wouldn't do it to NOS stuff, but if you've got something that's been salvaged bit of polish doesn't hurt

I'm not into the bling much, but it whatever floats your boat..

it wrong to say they have been messed up, because most of what we do is restore before shine - just because it has a mirror shine does not mean it cannot be painted, anno or chromed again later to get it back to a factory finish. In most cases polishing it helps this process.

 ;D

I guess it's like custom cars and hotrods - you get a part and want to show you can achive a better look by polishing it up with no marks and a clean finish

i can under stand there are some that want to keep parts original and not touch

some parts have a couple of marks on them - you can keep org, re-paint, or polish

i like to polish as i like a shine - but also when i polish i don't like to over polish some parts like DC levers - keeping the original lines and maybe letting some nicks and marks still show - this show that the part has had a life and been used

with skyways - i like a shinny mirror hub as it can match a chrome frame or show up a good paint work with reflection

so i guess it's back to the old days of like hot rod cars - show yer stuff as best as you can  8)

each to there own or we would only have to put up one bike for all of us to look at - boring  >:D

I like stuff to either be NOS or "rider" condition  :daumenhoch:

I agree with Bendy about polishing Cars because it was done BITD and if the part was a polish finish then go for it  :daumenhoch:

I've got a set of Crupi Cranks that are polished and love em  :smitten: but that’s how they came out of the box

But other stuff......

I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Polished is fine as long as it's not over polished.

When things get polished and loses detail etc thats when its shit  :10_2_12:

If it looks right do it  :daumenhoch: .   I used to strip my bike and clean and polish every part .   The bike was chrome with chrome cranks and nice bits So why not have something nice and shiny when your re building a 30 year old bike  ???

Would you say it's bad to strip the ano of something perfect if it's not the colour you wont ???

yes imo

What about rare items? I have a NOS Hutch Aerospeed Powerdisc in Blue anno which i'm never gonna use but trying to find another one in any colour or Chrome is a mission so do i strip the NOS blue one and re anno / Chrome or go without and use something else which wouldn't go quite as well on the bike?

It's your disc so you can do what you want with it but having it chromed might affect it's value should you decide to move it on...
