Freeway BMX???

Woman at work has just seen a few of my pics and said her son's old BMX is still up in her loft, a 'Freeway' she said. I'm wondering if she meant Skyway or was there a Freeway??  I'll not get excited just yet...........

Yep - Freeways a brand - think it was Acorn? that did the frames. Made abroad and stickered up as Freeway. My first bmx was an Aero Freeway - snapped it

Acorn made the Freeway freestyler in the late 80's.

The are usually identifiable by their weight - I think they were forged from solid iron.
Very much akin to toys r us bikes of today.

Ugly, heavy, poorly made, very weak, platforms sticking out of everywhere, 80's tat.

Sounds like it's worth a look!
Go and get it!   Expect some rubbish components though.

I had a freeway freestyler as my first bmx - I have no interest in another, thats a mark of how $hit they are
on the plus side you can sell the F&F as scrap as there will be about half a ton of low grade steel

Some 80's BMXs were very very shit.  But nowadays they are fun to collect.

My first bike was made by that company whose name also slips my mind... proper POS but I would love to have one today in my collection.

I'm on the case....... I love old, heavy and basic. That's all most us had first time round on our estate before we saved and started to upgrade, we still loved 'em tho', pretending to be March & Ruffell etc.
