Brixton skate park
« on: October 24, 2011, 11:57 AM »
Went to the Brixton academy on Saturday night and right next to it is an awesome looking old school skate park!  i never knew there was one there?

Anyone ride it?  there were some rather shifty looking youths hanging around with staffy dogs and no boards or bikes so i wouldn't want to ride it at night.....but to be honest i think you might be in trouble riding it in the day time looking at the surrounding flats!  ;D

Just looked at google maps and it's called Stockwell skate park, dog knows how long ago they took that picture though as it has nothing around it on google maps!

Brill place - dodgy area. About '97 me and two mates went riding there, couple of blokes came up, forced one friend off a bike and tried to get away. He went over the bars  :daumenhoch: so we got the bike back whilst being threatened with a knife :)

My mate had his bike stolen from him there in the late 80s. I think its a bit better there now.

They gave the whole park a face lift a few years ago, built new bowls at the back and added some stuff.

The Albion Magazine had its issue 4 launch party at Stockwell a few weeks ago. The place was rammed!

Went to the Brixton academy on Saturday night

How was the Mission? Bloody GOTH!  ;D

Yeah it looks a great park!  my lad was amazed by it and would love to have something like it where he lives.

I can see how you had trouble there...........it's a rough old place!  when we left the academy there were prostitutes just standing outside the doors to flats with their pimp stood next to them.  opened my lads eyes thats for sure  ;D

The Mission?  They were good but the Nephilim were ten times better!  i have to say The Mission just missed that little something if i'm honest, still had a top night though and loved looking at the gorgeous Goth women!   :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Yep, i got my Redline stolen off me there in 81 :-[. got circled by a tribe as soon as i rode in, the ring-leader ripped it off me. the circle opened, he rode out and they closed back in on me. I didn't even get a chance to ride the bowls.

My dad used to drive by the skatepark every day on his way to work and one day saw a kid riding round with my wheel set on his bike. He got a taste of what it was like for me that day... My old man gave him a kicking and dragged him down the police station kicking'n'screaming :knuppel2: (i love my dad ;D)

Got the full bike back about three weeks later :daumenhoch:

Sounds like it hasn't changed much.

Imagine having that when you ride past a certain place not far from your house, I live near wigston, which is a nice area, but if you wanna go down to a certain road, it gets dodgy, the same scumbags, always in groups, and most of them older than me :2gunsfiring_v1:

I used to skate that when I went over to visit my nan, she lived close to Brockwell Park which is not far from that skatepark.  It was as dodgy as fook back then, I remember going there two or three times on with a few mates on our bikes but didn't stay beyond 3pm  :LolLolLolLol:
