How about a post showing off that specialist old school skill, pivoting :D The kids have no idea :P

Here's a couple of mine from bitd.

love this pic, just because of the ramp :D Every weekend we'd nick loads of materials off the building site, only to find it all gone again monday after school :'(

Here's a few of me from my Ammaco days. Rom '84.  The last shot is a rampstall, I'm just hopping back in. I would have fakied out to a slider or a 540 revert probably.

Please note the complete lack of colour on my bike.  And who says it's just new school bikes that are all black....

Thats Ted. Nice fella, him and his rollerboot mates used to maraud around the town centre most evenings where me and my mates would be praqctising no handed cowboys and making ramps out of the market stall boards....

Rob, I remember you being super smooth, did you used to do the little hop at the end of the turn?

Great pic's, so I was the only person calling um pivots then :P

Love the pic's Stumpy, all proper. Your no hander puts mine to shame, particularly like the kid in the background on the 1st pic, exaggerating how high he's getting

Rob, all yours look great, again proper 80's style. The fat skater really steals the show though :-X, how many bikes are there, every kid must of had one.

It saddens me to have to tell you all that the skater, Ted Eden - my oldest friend - died back in 2001.

Ruler - Yes mate. For the most part round here, racers ran spokes and freestylers ran coaster Zs or Tuffs.

ukoldschool - I was one of those skaters in Romford town at night. I've skated since I was 13 and when I retired from riding (shortly after these photos actually) I went on to play street hockey in the Central London League for a few years. Street skating in London and Romford, rollerdiscos & hockey at the weekends was my life for a good while.

Stumpy - No hops for me brother!! Just the occasional one to get a 540 revert all the way round, but that's it.

Sorry to hear about Ted. He was a nice bloke (think he lived near the park in the posh bit from memory?). He used to bring his old deck - a very fooked up Alan Gelfand with the nastiest pizza tape I ever saw and massive powell cubics to romford some evenings and we used to borrow it off him to mess about on (we skated and bmx'd back then). My lasting memory of Ted would be rolling through Romford on his skates with a big box on his shoulder blasting out a tune which I can remember in my head but have no idea what it was called. Rob, you werent the guy that used to drive a yellow escort van were you?

Yeah, the family are still in that house in Gidea Park.  Ted moved out to Laindon in the early 90s and that was his downfall sadly, managed to surround himself in scumbags.

I didn't have a yellow van back then, I was driving either a green cavalier coupe or a red cavalier saloon - you know, the old rear wheel drive ones. Ted had a gold MK4 Cortina and a couple of RS2000s.

We had a mutual friend called Kev (dark hair, big nose) who drove a yellow van. A Marina van from memory. He wasn't much of a skater though but you might have seen him hanging out with us around Romford.
