SELLING FRAMES THAT HAVE HAD WORK
« on: August 14, 2011, 10:38 PM »
OK so you have frame and and you had work done to it, maybe its had a new seat tube, brake bridge, maybe its had new dropouts or the dropouts filled flatted and reworked. Maybe its had filler to fill a nasty ding before painting its over?

All this restoration work makes something tatty look pretty again. But if you come to sell it should you be including the work done in your item description?

or

What kind of restoration work (if any) can you safely 'not mention' in your for sale thread?

yes i agree with dave , if you bought it and didn't know it had work then you don't know but if you have had the work done i think if you tell people they are not bothered as long as the price reflects the restoration

anything been done should be told to anybody who's interested.
if you dont know fair enough. but if you've bought something and know about it and dont pass it on is bad in my books

Any work should be told about . Simples .

Not that anyone off eBay would tell you  :knuppel2: . It's like a lucky dip on there  .

But I'd expect a Radster or forum member to be honest . :daumenhoch:

totaly agree, all repaired frames forks etc if sold on rad should be up front and mentioned in the sale... especially if the frame etc has been powder coated or re sprayed, chances are the new owner is gona strip it back anyway .. all sales should be honest and upfront to protect the good name and nature of rad.

Not selling anything dude.

I have sold frames that have had work though and I was completely honest.

Just wondering if i was too honest and what other peoples thoughts on the subject are.

If someone has work done on a frame then 100% whoever is selling it should mention it.  I am not too worried about tidying up dropouts etc, but if it has had tubes replaced, dropouts replaced or major dents/dings filled and then re-finished then if it is not mentioned the seller is being dodgy and either has something to hide or is not mentioning it to get a higher selling price.

All frames have had some welding work done.
I guess it's down to the repair. If it's got filler under paint then I would deffo want to know. If it's had structural work I'd want to know
Well done dropouts, I wouldn't give a monkeys. Drilled forks, don't care as long as it's well drilled.
If you bought it with a advisory, you should sell it the same though, only fair.
You always play fair though  ???
