My youngest daughter Maddie has been on a mission to get a scooter after having a go on a neighbours one... she wanted a razor one but I showed her some pics of a bmx style scooter and she thought that looked pretty cool. I'd already done a bike for her birthday but she hadn't really gelled with it and the last thing I wanted was to push her into it.
I put a post out on here to see if anyone had an old bmx style one and James 'Voivod' said I could have an old Mongoose one he had in the loft. I knew James is an old school skateboard fan so I dug out a Thrasher book and sent it over so we did a swap.
When it arrived Maddie was keen to get on it and we happened to be in Market Harborough on Wednesday and found a park with some big grassy hills and she was whizzing down on the scooter and loving it!
She had already been to B&Q and chosen some cherry red paint. She wanted silver stripes then we found some pink vinyl flowers I had left over and I showed her Stodgys red & pink Hutch in Classic BMX and she loved the colourway... so we got on a 2 day resto... stripped & sprayed it yesterday and got the vinyl on and rebuilt it today.
She's out on it now LOL... loves it. She is keen to come to the skatepark when we do our first T1 session so that could take her to the next level.
Massive thanks to James 'Voivod'... you're a diamond sir :-)
Pics that James sent me... freshly pulled out the loft.
Me & Maddie getting busy with the sanding.
All done :-)
One Happy daughter
