got my raleigh team burner back from the coaters today
top job but i think the colour code suggested over on the burner site is wrong as the white has came out creamy rather than bright white...

phoned him up and the coater says he would have to blast it all and repaint it again so another 50 quid
not sure i can afford or justify this.....

therefore i was gonna look at spraying the white section myself
i could do with any advice on this!
how many cans how to avoid runs etc
the powder and lacquer thats on it just now is such a good job im worried i ruin it.

now the pics
used paper and my bright white seat post ofr comaprision

its worth a try mate
it probably wont take much paint to cover it
mask off the other colours.
key the white lightly, with a scratch pad. wipe all the dust off
get the frame nice and warm
spray it in very light coats, leaving 10 mins between each one.
do it until it looks covered and even.

then put the frame somewhere really warm (maybe in the airing cupboard, once the paint has dried) and leave it for a WEEK to harden.

its nearly impossible to spray a frame withour sags, or overspray. just do lots of coats, wait for it to harden, flat it with wet and dry, and a then a polishing compound.

go around the edge of the bb cups carefully with a stanley to cut the paint
then whack em out

then either strip em, or fit new ones. or get some old greasy ones and clean them up. they always clean up nice unless they are rusty

do this before you spray. hammerite, although scorned on here, would do the job.

must admit powder is nice, id be tempted to do the other bits in the same colour, or just bite the bullet and re powder, rather than painting on top of powder coat. hammerite would sort it, but i warn you now, its a black art. it reacts to almost anything that it touches for some reason.

get it powdered in just plain white and paint the blue bit after

the powder coaters i go to charge 25 quid plus vat and they do a wicked job
