usa loose ball type to seal BB
« on: August 12, 2011, 11:59 AM »
hey guys, I'm thinking of swopping out my bottom bracket on my 96 DB venom pro for a sealed version. cranks are 8 spline.

Can i just buy a US size sealed BB, and fit it with my original cranks? or is it more complicated?

Cheers,

J

i'm thinking you might need to change the cranks as well as the axle will probably have a thread on it for the locking nuts?

if so then have a look at the Radshop as i'm sure Stodgy does a crank with sealed BB for about £50 all in  :daumenhoch:

get a set of these in black for £45 all you'd need is a set of cups which people on here will have  :daumenhoch:

I dont have the pinch bolt on the bottom, the arms are held on buy an allen key bolt, that screws into the spindle.

yep, i'm afraid you'll need a new crank as well then as your axle won't allow sealed bearings over the threaded collers.

:) Strip it down and get the Vernier calipers out.I have a crankset here which is looseball USA size the(where the arms/chainring fits) but the parts where the bearing sits is the same diameter/thread pitch as a regular one-piece crank.Got one of these to fit with no probs.New crankset will prob be cheaper :daumenhoch:
