I saw one of my favourite riders crash this weekend wearing one of those action man helmets. Skinned his face, lucky not more serious.

When will you lot realise p1sspot helmets look shite, and all they protect is head lice.
Next year instead of burning Elina Uls and Raleigh burners, lets burn the p1sspots.....

I agree Tony, not only do they give minimal protection, you look like a complete cnut when riding with one on, especially when racing on the track.

I think a rule of future MK's is full face helmets only, they are not expensive and will stop the bad head injuries.

i agree, but to be fair to Alex....he did have a full face helmet but he was the complete gentleman and gave it to the lady who was with them because she didn't have one.

Really pleased to see him get up and eventually laugh.   Hope you're okay Alex

Alex's little trip to the land of amnesia did make me fetch my full face from the van for the novice final.

Happy to report he got checked out at the hosi last night and all is well.

Hey there Ratty (And everyone else). Thanks for the concern. 

Im all fine, few bumps and scratches (just about EVERYWHERE, in fact!). Not much skin left on the back of either hip, I didnt even know about that yesterday. I think I might have landed on the back of my head and then just rolled onto my face (which removed skin from my nose and chin). I think if I'd landed on my face hard enough to knock me out Id have had a bit more damage. I should have been wearing a full face, no question, but Id probably still have been knocked out. All good tho, no broken bones. Id have been REALLY pissed off if I'd broken a collar bone or something (for the 4th time! haha). Havin said that, I might have broken my thumb when the front wheel hit the jump. Its pretty sore today too.

Its been a while since Ive had that dazed, "where am I" feeling. It was pretty cool. I worked out what was going on fairly quick but didnt remember ANY of that semi final for a while. Now I can remember the front wheel hitting the lip of the last tripple and thinking "oooh, that aint too good". I dont remember hitting the ground, or walking off like an extra from the Thriller Video.

When i got home I did a few silly things (like couldnt open the front door cos I was turning the key the wrong way) so I popped up to A&E to get checked out. They said I was fine, and i woke up today, so all good.

Next time I'll share the full face with Franka and not let her use it all to herself.

Funny that we were both talking about open face before a moto as I had me old skool lid (& mouthtrap) and you wondered whether youre open face would be fine and then that goes and happens 

On the subject of pisspots, never been a fan whether at a skatepark or on track,yeah it protects your brain but what about the rest although suppose it's personal choice, I still  like to wobble using old skool rather than full face.

However I'm not goin to preach, I took me knee pads off yesterday before a moto (thought they were a hinderence on my piss poor ridin!!) then goes and decks it and now me knee has swollen up like a balloon today

I was marshalling that section of track and watched you head earthwards in slow motion; I was waving my flag before you hit the ground and felt quite ill once you had. I was very scared for you and so am chuffed to bits you are OK.

A true gent' for giving up your helmet to Franka - so to speak!   - and given the noise your bone dome made when you hit, I am just glad you had something on your noggin'; had you not the result could have been unthinkable!

Anyway.... all's well that ends well!

P1ss pot helmets aint that great, but they are better than no helmet. The scary thing is, most of the time i ride im the ONLY one wearing a helmet. I always wear my piss pot and most of the people Im riding with dont have any head protection. I cant see me riding in a full face (other than BMX racing) so I think Im going to try and get hold of a good open face helmet. Something like Easy Rider meets 90s BMX racing.

The thing Im a bit pissed off about is that I didnt realise that I had made the B Final. I didnt even finish the semi so I guessed I was out. Whats worse, I didnt click that Franka was in a final, even tho there wasnt a semi in her group. After my crash we went and put the tent down and packed up the car, including all the bikes. We walked back to the start hill to watch and someone said that Frankas race was about to start. We RAN back to the car, got her bike and helmet out and she JUST made it back in time. Unfortunately no one told me I was also in a final so I didnt have my bike. I would have TOTALLY rolled round the track for a glory lap, last place in the B final. Oh well.

alex last place was totally mine matey .i did 2 straights and my legs just died i barely got to the end of the track .youd have beaten me just pumping round no pedalling .
