Have I shagged my Kashi?
« on: July 30, 2011, 11:39 AM »
Ooops..  My Kashi restore is not going too well:

Rubbed out all the scratches with some 180 paper and it actually looks pretty good apart from the powdery/patchy appearance.  Despite this, I dyed it anyway hoping it would still come good but, it looks pretty much the same as before dying..

Any tips would be very appreciated..

thanks,

Paul

Dylon Ocean Blue.  I added about 400g of salt, in boiling water (on a plastic bowl so could not maintain the heat).  Left it for a good 1.5+ hours.

It looks like the dye you've used is of a lower pigment than the original seat colour. Did it change colour at all?

you need to get rid of all those coarse 180 marks, cos what ever colour you dye it the marks will come thru  :daumenhoch:

same as the above - fine grades etc down to like a 1200/1800.. then rit with loads of salt..

you can polish plastic to with a nice cutting compound but try this after the dye, You can pull that back because I have done worse.  ;)

right what has happend here is the wrong dylon - i'm guessing it was a cold dye and not a MP (multi-purpose) and no fixer !

only MP dylon dyes will dye it due to the nylon in it

madonna blue will work
