I was just wondering why do we call them Forks and not Fork?

well ... I was being obvious and my research ( I bing'd it ) says we should call them 'fork'

and why is more than one sheep not called a flock of sheeps?

But sheep is always sheep. The word Fork seems to have acquired and s when referring to a bike and nothing else, that's what I am puzzled about.

If you ask someone for help on dismantling your bike and they say "Fork off" it's completely different if they say "Forks off".
