Spoke lengths
« on: July 27, 2011, 09:28 AM »
So i need to lace a set of Campy C-Record track (sheriff star) hubs to 20x1.75 36h 7x with a 4 cross.  I'm using this ..  http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/spokelengthcalculator/

Its saying i need different lengths for each side of the wheels  :-\

Rear ...
Left spoke length: 198.9
Right spoke length: 196.5

Front ...
both: 197

Am i going to be ok just using 197 all around?  and if so, anyone know where i can get them?

Cheers  :daumenhoch:

I don't know personally but 197's sounds far too long, even for 4cross lace (7x to high flange)

I think the difference in spoke length on the rear hub is due to the hubs you're using normally being fitted to a bike with multi speed free wheel, therefore giving more spacing on the drive side to allow for that.

I'd try lacing them 3cross with 184's and see what happens :-\

Probably no help but somebody had to say something, good luck :daumenhoch:

last time i laced a wheel & the spokes were to long, once they were trued i carefully grinded the excess spoke off with my angle grinder. beware tho you need a steady hand... hope that helps :daumenhoch:

I would have thought a set of 184 to 187 spokes would work a treat for a lace 4 on a large flange hub...

Suzue low flange to 7xs are 194 for a lace 4
