What would you be prepared to pay...

... for a full Cro-mo, custom, twin top and down tube frame?

I ask as i have just got an email back from a company with whom i inquired about this topic. They initially quoted me around £900 which included the jigs, heat treating and having to buy full lengths of tubing at 3m. They can do them for around £415 if bought in batches of 25.

This is a long standing idea i have had as i'm sure a few of you have but ultimately if your saw a limited edition frame of this type for sale at £415 and you liked it, would you spend that amount?

i'm not looking for orders or anything, its just a hypothetical question just in case one day i am tempted to have a go

but not a twin top AND twin down tube, now thats unusual can only think of a couple of bikes with a twin down tube

Yeah i know the DTT only had a twin top tube, subrosa dropped it cos it didn't sell well and was only £250

Can't see that twin top and down tubes would make anyone want to pay around £400 for a frame....  

If we're talking new school £400 is high end price wise for a frame, can't see many people going for something that may be regarded as a bit gimmicky, take a look at the new VDC stuff as an example...  

But we all have different tastes get some designs posted up...

No, I don't get why you would want one. It's not as if it's a retro JMC or National Pro look alike with modern materials and specifications, what you have described is a Meteorlite.

Post up some designs.

I must confess £415 is more than i would want to pay. It is only the second company i have asked so i guess there would be plenty of scope to get the price down.
I have some very preliminary 3dstudio max concepts but nothing is done with any real measurements

the proportions are not exact, its mainly a concept as i say. The tubes in reality would probably be around 16mm diameter, they look a touch thin on this concept
