70's parts
« on: August 19, 2011, 02:47 PM »
I'm looking for info on what parts that would be used on a 70's build

After seeing Stidds Goose, Snav's Race Inc Carls Robbo and ALL of John’s old Geese :smitten: to mention just a couple at MK it’s got my blood flowing again

I've had a look http://martin-bike.com/ and got some good ideas and there's a few reference bits on the museum

but just wondered if anyone had any other reference sites or info  :daumenhoch:

Or could any recommended cool parts from that era  :smitten:

I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

I've got 70's parts.  1973 vintage, hardly touched over the last 5 years, mint!  ;D

 ;D I've got 70s parts too

definitely some signs of 'shelf wear' there, with some scuffs and pitting visible
may be suitable for a rider with a bit of resto

Nope, only 60's parts here. Extremely well used and a bit worn, but still fully working. Has been through some war-torn battles but the scars have healed now
Still limping......

Peter start looking for 70's road race and track parts, like Campagnolo, Sansin, Ofmega etc and get them converted to BMX use, that is what most of us have done.

I find a lot of road race parts on here.... www.yellowjersey.org.

Welcome to the wonderful world of 70's parts, they are by far the most fun to find and use on builds.

I like how people fitted anything they wanted in the 70's. Be it from an MX bike, a racer or even a shopper!

Why not do a late 70s UK build? Still a few grifters about to get you started
A long time ago, in a land far away!

If you still have these Darren I would be really interested. I was chasing some of these for ages for my team rampar but to no avail.

A Lot of road back and track bike gear. Shimano 600 stuff, dura ace, phil woods, campy, stronglite, motomags, 7b and c, oury grips, comfy seats, Carlisle tyres etc.
Check out the museum on vintage and society, loads to be seen. Especially tim cook's bikes.
