1987 gt pro performer project to be.
« on: July 03, 2011, 08:25 PM »
Hi my name is adam,i live in sheffield and getting back into bmx was always in the back of my mind, hence the spare parts/bikes in the shed, its been 20 years since the only bike i had when young (being poor) was a 1988 stormer (je james special) when all my mates had gt's,burners ect.so here goes. This was bought 3 years back at a car boot sale for £10,any help as to the original spec/model would be appreciated as it look like a mashup of parts at the moment.

Here's mine-

http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/gt_bicycles/47186

If your doing to spec then good look...it's gonna cost you......and you'll have to start searching Ebay.com/bmxmuseum for a few of the parts.

the crank you have there came out in 1990/91 the race chainwheel/spider is  early mid 90s, the race hubs you got are very  late 80s as they have the fip flop hub could be early 90s, sweet hubs!!!! hope this helps as i have no fooking idea about GT crap  :D

Welcome along Adam, there's a few Sheffield lads on here....me, Spen69, Hootski70 etc etc

Hi Adam - hadn't noticed this thread till now mate :daumenhoch:

As Pete said, there's a few of us in Sheffield buddy. Me and my brother Simon (Hootski70) and that reprobate Dave (Dordymush) with Pete just down the road (but he's got his wanking injury from spending too long on the internet and can't ride right now) :2funny: We've also got Sid1972 just up the road in Barnsley and a few other regulars like Jim (Oldtired) and Rich (Clean) who you'll find lurking about at any given time :2funny:

If you need any help sorting stuff out then drop us a PM mate as we've got a garage or two full of tools and bits to get this built. YOu won't be finding much snobery about era correctness mind, and we will mock the Hutch stem as I just don't get why they're worth so much but you'll basically pay for a lot of the build by selling that stem bud :daumenhoch:
Still limping......
