Snap! Still got mine though:

And 28lbs is light for then - this one ways a fair bit more - Peregrine Phat Jacks, Profile SS and street forks = tonnage. Love the Generals - good trails geometry  :daumenhoch:

Available in 'General Lee' Orange or black on release (1997) - did a bit of a potted history for 'em over at the museum:

35+ :coolsmiley: that is heavy, just weighed my specialized hardrock sport on some digital luggage scales, is only 34lbs :uglystupid2:, if i remember correctly the diamondback silverstreak 2 was 21lbs :4_17_5:

If you want something a bit lighter weight-wise but almost identical geometry (only difference is there's slightly more room to pop the rear wheel up in the rear drops on the General - about half an inch more) then the DK Pro XL's for you :)

Some of the earlier PXL's are Kastan built as well - the General's geometry is based on these race frames  :daumenhoch:

cool will keep an eye out. I do see a lot of DK four/six/eight packs kicking around and the odd cincinnatti, and previously had a punt on a couple locally, but being tighter than a dolphins arsehole never won them!! They are lower end aren't they?? Rarely see a general lee though

Yeah - don't bother with the 4/6/8's as the geo's different, and a lot of 'em are high-ten steel not chromolly - I'll keep me eyes peeled for a cheap General for ya  :daumenhoch:

They do crop up at the museum every now and again - and there should be a lot more of 'em over here, as at every park/trails I went to in the late nineties there was at least one orange General there!

Propably not as many about as You'd think, a lot of the Generals cracked/broke at the wishbone behind the seatpost for some reason from what I can gather, I know a rider round My way went though a few of them in a short space of time.

Ha, Know where You're coming from! To be fair it was probably due more to the riding style of the time, heavy street/ramp abuse on what was more of a jumping frame. If You wanted to ride a DK and bring out the big guns You'd get the S.O.B, that thing was built from bridge girders!!!

Yeah - was going to mention that - basically the 'S' bent chain and seat stays on some flexed a bit too much and it went at the wishbne (also a weak spot on the Pro XL's). Not all of 'em though - they are more set up for trails than street (the SOB covered the street angle). A mate of mine got through 3 of 'em in 3 years - seems that they did something to the slightly later non-gusset one's though (1998) as I seem to remember someone at Hot Wheels muttering summit about the wishbone's being stronger. Think if you get a choice and you're going for a gusset-less one aim for a serial of DKGL 0800ish +

Nice spot - but that bad-boys had it's 990 lugs ground down to fit that smaller sprocket - saying that Sawzall can replace 'em for you :)
