Decal Removing / removing the glue
« on: June 21, 2011, 03:58 PM »
Hi all - last night I was stripping some wheel decals and was somewhat surprised to see how difficult it is to remove the clue layer.  I tried baby wipes (crappy environmental ones) and nail vanish remover pads.  Neither made the job even slightly easier.  Took me about 30 mins of hard work to get 95% of one decal removed.

Any good tips?

Ta,

Paul

Isoprophyl Alcohol - or Switch Cleaner will do it as well (think you may have some of that kicking around to clean the knobs on one of your many analogue devices ;) )

Hey - thanks all.

I followed 2 of the below:

1) hairdryer to soften the glue.  Worked lovely, decal came off in one, nice and easy..
2) wd40 the removed the remaining clunge without any effort..

Very simple when you know how  :)

thanks again,

Paul

PS: dont have any switch cleaner.  I just use air and make sure everything is covered so avoids getting dusty..   :)

isopropyl alcohol is the bolux - fetches the glue off a treat and then evaporates  :daumenhoch:

got mine off ebay and so far has come in very handy
