Can anyone tell me If Skyway graphites are so good why did No one(Cambell, Ruffell,Griggs, Canning) on the mid 80s team ride them ?

I think they were £600.00 a pair in 85 and they were known to snap with side flex so they were a no go as standard £60.00 skyways worked a treat. Gimmick springs to mind.

Don't think they were £600, £200 is where I recall them being. I recall the skyway riders having them in various colours but to the general public they were black or black. I had a set BITD and swapped them for some Ukai speedlines and much targeted riding them

they were a race wheel not freestyle, they would snap if given too much abuse

Colored Skyway wheels showed up occasionally in BMX magazines. From my understanding, these wheels were only made specially for the Skyway riders and never actually produced for sale.

Sorry mate, that's a photo of standard coloured Tuffs fitted with Campy Hubs. They are not Graphite.

Graphite in black only ( ok, very, very dark grey)

Still, that's a very cool photo.
