what do you prefer race or freestyle bikes?

Race for me, I raced bitd and could'nt pull any stunts worth talking about on my pals Haro, was s5it at freestyle then and I'm probably a 1,000 times worse now.

Both for me as its all BMX, its nice to have an old school racer to ride and a freestyler, whatever I decide to take out of the shed on the day  gotta be  though

I prefer freestyle but some race bikes do float my boat aswell, as long as it's not just a boring round top and bottom tubes then I'm interested.

freestyle bikes are harder to build trying to source the right parts, race bike stuff is 10 to a penny all of them near enough have all the same parts apart from different frames and bars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! end of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    

why the fook is there NO freestyle bike of the month for us people that dont like watching paint dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont get me wrong i do like some race bikes but i do love a quadangle thoe

Difficult question, my top bikes are freestyle but then most other freestyle bikes are quite ugly... when i started this hobby i didnt think i'd ever build a race bike but i seem to have moved over to only race bikes now.  I grew up with freestyle and we all hit the track on our bikes.. something you cant really do the other way round .. race bikes aint no good for freestyle.

gonna forget this as some of you lot can turn the simplest things into right dramas so i just cant be arsed
was just curious as i PREFER freestylers and was looking to see who else felt the same. i love everything bmx and have allsorts in my collection
still cant see what this would have to do with botm

not really steve as i can see who i might be able to help out/gain advice from freestyle builds wise etc and as previously stated just a bit of fun and at least bmx related

this thread has nowt to do with bike of the month but sheer curiosity mate, i prefer building freestylers and it was freestylers i wanted back then. this dont mean i dont like racebikes cos i own a few of them to. i voted for terrys jmc in botm but next up for me would have been the 78 robbo with the dp my 3rd choice. its all down to preference on the day when i look at the pics prior to casting a vote. out of the literally hundreds of members on here only a very few vote in botm anyway which is a shame
so your freestyle builds not winning could be down to couldnt be bothered to vote as much as anything else. so stop being paranoid 

i have voted for em in the past and they are great bikes 

i build bikes for me, i dont need upteen pats on the back to tell me i like them cos if i didnt i wouldnt build em

i make you right but i just dont see the point in having freestyle bikes in bike of the month when 90% of the users are into race bikes,  a freestyle bike that you have bled to the bone restoring will  allways loose, fair enuff but its when your beat by a burner is the fooking anoying thing and yet everyone hates burners......work that out.................................... its a loosing battle.........

Freestyle bikes have won BOTM before though Stevie  

just not yours   ,, but that's down to who the voters are voting for some months  

As for getting beat by a Burner ,,, Burners have won on a number of occassions

A Burner won and  put my race bike into 2nd place in this years  BOTY   It does belong to Craig Schofield and he won the World championships on it so ,, I did  get over it  

Don't forget the Raleigh  MK1 Pro, Aero pro, Team Aero Ruffell replicas are

 all very nice japanese made with good geometry and good components  


I did more tricks than tracks  as a kid ,,we had a halfpipe and dirt jumps   , but  I rode anything from Ammaco, Falcon, GT Nora, Kuwi Nova, DP freestyler and  I had Ukais Arayas CMC OGK and TuffII's  so basically just street bikes, no specific race or trick set up


I do have a Gen 1 Haro and did an 87 Performer  sometime ago but have tended to stick to the main  icon  brand bikes that were in BMX action bike pre 85  

So all race then  

But I do like  all BMX  and I mean any brand too really  , deffo no brand snobbery here

As  long as it's built right and proper thought has gone into it  

Old , Mid and  New,, race or trick it's all good in my book

Freestyle for me too, but again thats down to my background as a kid - no tracks anywhere near me so I grew up on improv ramps and trying to pull cherrypickers and miami hoppers.

Def not got any firm fave or hate any, its all great to see.  And even though most my bikes are freestylers, the number one as a kid for me was the TA.  Lucky enough to get one last year, and turning it into a freestyler as we speak....
