Wheel minor Restoration - Peregrine HP-48s
« on: June 14, 2011, 09:33 PM »
Hi all

Just got some fabbo Peregrine HP-48 wheels.  Quality is: very nice rider..  But, I want to make them a bit nicer  :)   So,

1) one of the Suzue hub (5B stamped) is a little course running.  I think it is sealed.  How can I improve this?  Im used to stripping down Skyway hubs.  At the weekend ill see how far I can strip it..

2) the rims say "use HP-40 tires only".  I presume this is bollox?  I have some HP40 tires but not sure if I will be riding them as they are currently un-used.

3) the rear rim is a little scratched.  Being aluminium, can i polish these out?  Im building a workshop and intend to get a bench grinder so, in a month or so, I will have access to a polishing machine..  Pictures of the straches here:

ta for any replies,

Paul

They say they are sealed hubs but they are only semi-sealed. The front looks normal to me and the back has the plastic seal. They can be stripped and greased like loose ball hubs  :daumenhoch:

They say only use HP tyres as they wanted you to buy their tyres back in the day  :LolLolLolLol: Any tyre will do depending what you will be doing on the bike  :coolsmiley:

My speedlines had scratches too but I buffed the worst out quite easily  :daumenhoch:  :coolsmiley:
