Stupid question cos im thick

  Ok chaps never been an expert on bmx race and never will be for sure always been freestyle for me and to be honest thats not great either  so heres my thicko question ? flip flop hubs what on earth are they ? now ive recently purchased a set of ukais with suzui hubs and noticed both sides of rear hub are threaded to take two sprockets  possibly different sizes    Flip flop hub possibly or not  tbh im dreading the replies

yep they're flip-flop

One size (biggest) take a sprocket of 16t and upwards, they other (smallest) takes a sprocket of 15t and lower, I think

pheww cheers for that delray  as i thought    what was the combo then bitd  and why where they used  seems strange then that they might change there mind in the middle of whatever they where doing

Flipflop hubs have been around since the dawn of BMXing, widely available in the 70's and 80's and mainly used on mini's with smaller front rings down to about 39t I think they were also pretty popular on the downhill tracks like Corona where you needed a big gear to keep up
