Could be a scammer!
« on: May 13, 2011, 06:44 PM »
Hi Guys

I'm looking for a few NS bits, so had a look on bmx-forum.co.uk, saw a complete WTP trust for £70, dib dobs it, guy contacts me says send me the £70 PP, he'll post the bike, the guy is 30 mins away, with a 3 post count, and I want the bike tomorrow, so said i'll collect, call me.

Get a reply, can't collect, work commitments, can't call, broken phone, so I reply thus

"To be honest mate, I want your bike, but i'm not sending £70 to someone I don't know, with a 3 post count, on a forum I have only just joined, who won't ring me, when I can pick it up tomorrow after a 30 minute drive.

I can pick it up from you at work mate.

I'm a 40 year old bloke, I still ride regularly and i'm not pi$$ing about, but somethings not seeming right here, prove me wrong! you have my number!

Mark M"

May have been abrupt, but fair in my opinion.

I then get a message calling me an asshole and he doesn't want me to have his (imaginary?) bike

I'd kind of got that impression!, He may have got £70 from a more trusting person who may have lost out.

Strange, but i've sent loads of money on here and never worried.

What do you reckon?

thats exactly what i would have done.  i think most people would rather have someone pick it up rather tham going through the bother of boxing it up and posting.

Yes, the bike is on ebay, but listed in Wales, not Nottingham.

Curious, perhaps the guy in wales doesn't know his bike is for sale in Notts!
