Putting different stickers on your bike ??

Hi all - what is the general opinion of pimping you bike with non-true stickers?  For example, if I got a cheapish twin top tube frame (Aero Reflex) and stuck Haro Freestyler stickers on it because I actually want a Freestyler, is this considered twat-esque?  I see quite a few examples of people putting, say, Freestyler stickers on a Haro Invert and I think they look great, but, putting Haro stickers on a non-Haro??  Will I get banned from RadBMX?

I reckon you would be better off building a good quality honest Aero Reflex. They look smart when well put together.

I don't think Freestyler decals are the way to go because it's just too obvious it's not one.

Just my penith anyhow.

I butcher framesets tbh. If they are cheap. I've got a townsend that's stickeered up as a skyway and an unknown frameset that's stickered as a kuwi. My kids love them. And the bonus is it looks the job but if you trash it who cares. I think I'll be riding the kuwi rep on the blackpool meet as its not had an airing before.

But something like an aero really has a good standing in bmx history so ii wouldn't cover that up. I only disguise cheap frames and build them into riders

some times it can be ok ona unkown frame - but you will always have people that know that it is not the real thing

it's like sticking porshe badges on A ford - it may look cool to the untraind eye but not right to those who do

it's not wrong it just don't look right  

but at the end of the day it's your bike  

instead of Haro decals why not try product decals -

People used to do it BITD

and people still do it now like with E.T. ( Hot hearts)and  Hutch Pro star's

it's not right

When kids did it back then it was a bit more innocent and fun ( Look at the old pics of  ED209's bike with the T/A stickers  ),

but collectors doing it now are trying to fool people that they're bikes are something they aren't for some Kudos and praise

It's better to build a great version of what it actually is than , a fake  to con people ,IMO

It take me back to when you bought a new part and they had a sticker/decal in the bag - bang straight on the bike - you don't see much of that anymore as we tend to resto back to out of the shop style and not a year later look - maybe we will see a couple of builds with that in mind - a way to go i think

I am thinking of putting a set of Magna screamer decals on my S&M race bike, or possibly a Rooster Big Daddy set

I'd have a chat to Del about some of his custom Aero Decals, they look wwwaaaayyyyy better than the stock ones; if you have a look in the Museum section you find a fair few examples

Yeah, 3 weeks back into my BMXing (and 3 BMXs later) I know realise that the question should not have even been asked..

But yeah, I have missed out on a few Reflexs over the 3 weeks but I still think they are a very sexy bike..

I should have known better, but I have done it  (could not find the correct decals and couldn't bring myself to spend $$$$$ on custom decals) built it up for the missus, early 90's Diamondback with old school and repo parts. I like it so sticker it up how you like as its your bike

You could always modify an existing design. I have just received this morning a set of stickers from Del for my aero F&F. It has never really been confirmed what this F&F is so I decided to have a bit of fun. Can anyone say SKYWAT

Bits my dad replaced the stickers on my Curtis with Brian Curtis stickers purchased from Brian him self at a meet! Brian had no problem with it either!
