MONGOOSE SKYWAY HELP!!!
« on: May 15, 2006, 03:42 PM »
I've got a Mongoose California and i have bought a pair of blue Mongoose Skyways. I have replaced the axels in the Skyways and come to mount them on the bike but they won't. I looks like there is a nut too many?? Anyone come across this before?

I will post pics if that helps.

Lee.  :'(

Just take the middle nut off. Maybe it was used as a spacer on the last bike the wheel was mounted on  ;)

The big nut near the dropout? If so I tried that and the axel seemed lose then? Will it be ok when it's mounted and tightened up do you think??

Theres the cone nut, bolt, washer, bolt at each side. Still doesn't look like it will fit even without the washers.

is the thin nut closest to the hub part of the cone nut or a separate nut?
if it's a separate nut, then you can do away with the outer locknut and washer (to the inside of the dropout) since the innermost thin nut will be locking against the cone.

all u need to have on each side of the hub is:
the ball bearings
cone
locknut
dropout
washer
wheelnut

any help?

Bp

anything else is just eating up space.

The washers are the only thing you can remove from there. Do that and then try flexing the drop-outs open and squeezing them in.

I think the rear might be ok, it's the front i'm having trouble with. Want to see what it looks like before fitting them both.

Where did you get the blue Mongoose padset (the set you don't see very often) you had on the which pad thread?  :smitten:

Just tried, if i get one side in the other is out by the full with of the outer bolt (approx 7mm) and it doesn't seem to want to flax that much or i don't want to try and flex it that much. Without the washers it should fly in.

Do they go at the other side of the dropouts or in the bin.

Padset?  ::)

Someone has put the washer in the wrong spot. It should go on the outside of the dropouts, then the axlenut. I've had to stretch all my forks out to fit Tuffs. Completely normal. Like me.  :uglystupid2:
