Freewheel for Skyway Tuffs?
« on: May 09, 2011, 09:38 AM »
Morning all

Ordered some new white Skyway Tuffs last night, so I now need a driver for them.  I have a DP Firebird Freestyler, and trying to keep it in-era (I know the Skyways are new, but Im also sticking those pretend flanged hub covers on them).

So, any recommendations for a driver?  Maybe just something simple like a 16T Shimano:

Im considering a "coaster" (where the gear disengages when rolling backwards) but I have never tried one and don’t like the idea of having that initial slop/catch up, when re-engaging the gear/pedals.  Any thoughts on putting a coaster on an old school bike?

Ta

If you have ordered your tuffs the you won't be able to use a coaster with them as they are moulded into the hub on manufacture. Good choice of freewheel but keep your eyes peeled on here or eBay and you will get one cheaper.  :daumenhoch:

if you've never ridden a coaster then i wouldn't advise starting now, they can take a while getting used to and you'll probably end up throwing yourself over the bars a few times before you are used to it.
