L to R
Simplex mag- Burner mag, has flex, softer compound feel, light weight.
GT Three Spoke - more solid feel, less flex, marmite looks, heavy weight.
Skyway Alloy Hubbed - solid but slight flex, every one's favorite, medium weight .
Burner Mag - solid feel, understated mag for a rider medium weight .
Acorn mag - flex's, soft compound, suit young rider, light weight
GT six spoke - strong feel, slight flex, medium weight
OJK's - strong feel, hard compound, rated next to skyways, medium weight
there are more mags out there - some good and some bad
You have to remember that some were made to be ridden and some were made for little kids to buy, so they had a copy wheel of the big kids for half the price - we are a little bigger in our older age (not minds
) some mags may not take the weight - skyways had a good promotion - OJK's are just as good
If your not sure about a mag wheel, just ask - find out if it is - strong enough to be ridden - right for the build you are doing - at the right price it's being old for - if it is not for a rider bike then you can maybe choose a lesser mag, as it's just for looks
word of warning - there are some mags on ebay that have just been made to cash in on the old bmx scene, these are a hard plastic with no nylon in the compound - i have seen pictures of these shatter - the guy was just hopping up a curb and clipped the front wheel - it shattered and punctured the front wheel - splinters of cheap plastic every where, he was not a happy bunny and was luck that his son's set didn't go the same way - he throw them out after smashing them up so no one else could get hurt
cheers B
