Red or Dead?
« on: May 05, 2011, 10:28 PM »
Hi - when I first saw my new bike on eBay, I thought that the red looked stupid.  In the flesh, it does not look so bad but Im still considering ditching the red and going black and white.  Obviously the swaped parts will be in keeping with the bikes age/condition.

So, ditch the red?

thanks,

Paul

I'd lose that gay seat straight away - throwing it on a bonfire would be a fitting end.  Then there's only 4 bits of red to lose -  I guess you should be able to trade the chainring, clamps and pedals for black ones on here (and the grips if they'll clean up O.K) so it shouldn't cost a great deal to put right...

As already said, if you want to keep the red, adding a couple more red bits will balance things out more...

What stem is on there?  It doesn't look like an '80s stem (in that pic) so that probably needs changing as well...

Swap the seat to black and the BB boot, just a tad too much red for me, otherwise spot on  :daumenhoch:

Mate - you have nailed it!!  It’s the seat that I don’t like - cant believe I could not see that until someone else points it out :(

The seat is a bit weird as it does not have a clamp and seems to be clued(?) onto the post.  Consiquently, it moves around a bit..  I'll post pics in another thread tonight..

What does "BB boot" mean??

Ta,
