I've got a similar question:
I have two items that would perhaps benefit from cleaning and polishing, but it would mean losing the logos.
Although both items have little value to anyone but me, I wouldn't want to 'ruin' them by trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Better to leave them as they are?
First is my old silver Redline Forklifter stem with a red painted or printed logo on the front. I want to polish up the stem but it'll mean losing the logo.
Second is my old black Kashimax aero. Again it's well-used, but I don't want to just tear into it with sandpaper. Will some sorts of polish clean it up nicely?
In this case, the side logos are 90% gone, worn off over the years.
For items of low value, perhaps 'character' is more desirable than 'shiny'?
