What's the crack with euro BB's
« on: May 04, 2011, 08:20 AM »
Don't know much about euro BB's :-[

I think i need a 68x113 (68mm shell size x 113mm width), but how do i know what taper i need as nobody mentions the differences when listing on ebay (and have heard people say there are different size tapers). the bb i have has not got a thick enough taper so the arms are loose, i don't think it's wear on the arms as they look good and are cro-mo, so unlikely to be worn on a mini size crank.

also if you were to go for a 68x118, does that give you another 5mm overall width or just on the drive side for twin ring set-up?

Please shed some light :daumenhoch:

There is a standard axle taper-size on euro BBs but it's for aluminium/alloy type 3-piece cranks only, not CROMO BMX type cranks. These come in 2/3 different sizes eg the Sugino/Redline type.

In my experience the extra 5mm is the overall width, not just the drive side.
