The Hub - Barnard Castle
« on: April 27, 2011, 09:14 PM »
We took a trip to Barny today and called in to The Hub. It's not open yet, but one of the staff was very helpful and give us a quick tour of the BMX track. It looks great, very tidy, Tarmac berms, flood lights, etc. and they have a pump track next to the main area as well.  :daumenhoch:

It will be open to ride in about 4 weeks, and they should be holding races, training and evening sessions.

It's a fantastic set up and they have obviously spent a massive amount of money on the facility. Good on 'em, it looks mega  :)

Give it a visit, I think you'll be impressed.

it's on the edge of the town if you are travelling along the  A688. i rode it last friday and it's a good track but personally i think the 3rd & 4th straight is too crammed with doubles.

Found myself in Barnard Castle today and suddenly remembered that the new track was here.  As luck would have it the nipper's bike was in the back of the car so we popped along for a nosey.  What a great facility :daumenhoch:

Loads of young'uns having a crack on the club bikes, free lend of a helmet and gloves which was perfect for such an impromptu visit.  Really good to see so many having ago, all well behaved as well with no to$$ers cutting people up  etc.  Mind Tom seemed to have it all under control ;)

Can't comment on whether the design of the track is any good, coz unlike Gish I have no idea what I'm talking about, but will deffo be there next Saturday with the boy again.  I might even bring the bike ::)

Really impressed with the whole setup and well worth the trip if you can make it.

Ben
