What's the best freewheel for a coaster Tuff
« on: May 14, 2006, 07:56 AM »
Fellas,

Please recommend the best freewheel (and supplier) to run on this coaster tuff (Suntour). I didn't have a coaster BITD and didn't realise threaded freewheels are no use.  :-[

Also, if anyone knows where to I can find the nut/bolt for fixing the arm to the frame (Haro Master) – or the best alternative.

Cheers

you need an a.c.s. freecoaster which means you will be able to run it as either a freewheel or coaster brake or a j.b freewheel adaptor (alans).freecoaster from biagio or skatepool  ;)

Sorry for the confusion here fellas. I want to use the coaster brake and only need a sprocket to run the chain.  :)

I have another rear freewheel tuff if I want to change to to a non-coaster set-up, so I don't need the ACS or JB adaptor Retrorider recommended.

Its just that most sprockets I have seen are threaded and the Suntour coaster isn't (see pic). Maybe I am missing something really obvious here.

you can use the a.c.s as a coaster anyway if you can't source a sprocket  ;)

Yes Jeff I know its funny. You post a pic your prized gear and a member thinks it's for sale. No harm in asking I suppose.

Spent ages hunting for green coaster tuff to go with the freewheel pair I bought from Skyway (re-issued type). Pity they are not the exact shade of green, but most folks won't notice.

The coaster tuff was made in the UK. I didn't know they made them in UK BITD, always thought they were imported from US.

Hopefully Dordymush is going to help me out with a sprocket. Cheers.

you know what I am in two minds to get some skyways with a coaster myself. 540 kickturns and 540 rollbacks were so easy even one handed but not on a freewheel well not yet.  ;) your green tuffs look the biz.

I`ve never had one with that sort of cir-clip on it, usually it`s like a round ring, if you know what I mean  :daumenhoch:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
