Peeps,

I am waiting on some shiny bits from the good ol' U S of A, which have been sent as Tracked Parcels by the US Postal Service. When I check the tracking number it states "Attempted Delivery 19th April".

We have not had any missed deliveries, the local Sorting Office has nothing either.

HELP!

Do such parcels get delivered by the Royal Mail once they clear customs, or does a 3rd Party Courier (eg DHL, Home Delivery Network) get the job.

Any tips on tracking down my missing parcel? $:-\$

when ive had stuff from porkchop via usp it normally takes 7 days once was a fortnight, and they always arrive via royal mail

I get a lot from the states, dont know why as they ship it via carrier pigeon

and depending how they sent it, can take from 7 - 20 days.

Attempted delivery means that you have incurred a customs charge and will receive a slip to pay online the charge so it can be delivered the next day.
Its the new thing they do to save coming out and no one is home

Or you may ending up getting a letter through the post saying you have customs charges to pay which will have to be paid before they will deliver your goods.

i just got a delivery from the states, it was sent 14/04/11 and arrived yesterday, it was sent by usps and then delivered by the postie

I get quite a few items from the US it takes owt from 7 days to 30 odd days

via USPS

But I've had a few things go walk about lately

My frame took a week from posting in San Fran to the UK, then another 2 or 3 weeks before I heard anything while they pulled a number out of their ar$e$ to charge me. It'll get there eventually bud

The chap on the 'phone said 38 quid on an item that only cost 60 quid to buy. Cannot believe an import duty of over 60% so will be challenging it.

I will let you know how I get on, but I am convinced something isn't right!

That is harsh Mr Clean, I recently bought some forks from the USA for £100 inc shipping and was only charged £25 duty so for you to be charged £38 for an item of £60 value is wrong.

Hmmm, so....

The guy told me wrong on the 'phone, so probably about right. $:-\$

$125 value (despite me asking him to post as gift @ $40) resulted in a £20 charge PLUS £8 Handling fee, so a total of £28.

A pair of Araya 7x in black laced to Sunshine hubs that are in very good nick, but not as mint as described or pictured (convenient camera angles, of course), but do run minty true.

Now for the (limited resto) job to commence.

On the plus side I did get some super minty 890s in blue correctly marked as "Gift", and some other bits through, which have sweetened the bitter pill of HMRC and sneaky eBayers!

We live and learn.............
