Hi folks,
I am hoping to build a dirt bike and need any advice you can offer, I have located a 93 frame (details to follow) - but a need the rest, forks bars, cranks etc
This is starting to sound like a wanted thread, but I need some info on setting this build up right.
what forks, must be right for the frame 'age wise'
slam bars or alternative, what's best?
cranks, stem, seat post and clamp and brake set up
I am going to ride this, most surfaces really so I good all rounder in terms of spec - if thats possible.
thanks in advance for any advice,
Sid.

Nice choice Sid...
Are you going for era correct or just a nice rider?
My 2p's worth...
Forks:1" Pitchforks or Ditchforks (same but with peg bosses)
Stem: 1" shafted redneck if you can find one, or TNT, Profile, GT
Slam bars: era correct would be dancing man logo ones, new ones are the same size but have a narrower cross bar... who's gonna know...
Cranks: GT Profile, S&M PA's (very hard to find) Redline flights (90's non full wrap single pinch)
Sprocket: Profile, GT there's loads to choose from
Seatpost: Primo rod or similar
Seatclamp: Profile, peregrine, GT
Brake: Tech 77 lever either ad990 u brake or a pitbull if the frame has no lugs
Tyres: Primo vmonster, dirtmonster (getting a bitch to find in amberwalls) or rainbow label comp 3's
Seat: everyone loves an S&M shield seat but they're not strictly correct (96 onward)...
Padset: (if you want one) Steve Firebird does spot on versions of the og ones or go for the new ones if you're not fussy (incorrect font)
Wheels: Those ones i told you about...
Grips: ODI longnecks or Jives
I feel a right geek now...
Doubtless there'll be other opinions

good to see your getting on with the build so soon
as for tyres, if you wanna be real era correct then primo tyres arent correct for a 93 dirtbike, they didnt come out till 95 iirc
you would need tan wall comp 3's, my personal fav tan wall gt logo tyres or peregrine tan wall tyres
my personal spec would be
pitch forks
tioga beartrap 2 headset
dancing man slam bars
dk stem
odi longneck grips
tech 77
ad990
straight seatpost (no micro adjust)
gt padded dropnose seat (many variations over the years)
dk seatclamp
profile crank
gt power series chainring
shimano dx pedals
peregrine super pros, shimano mx30 freewheel, gt logo tyres
izumi chain
thats my chrome holmes spec which is a replica of my 93 holmes i had in 1993

After being slung together and spending a bit more time in the pits than the ramps, this beast rode great last night and gotta say the grin on Sids face as he rolled in off the baby half-pipe for the first time on it was classic
But then you know I think all bikes should be built to ride, not look at - here's my new rider, my totally mint, show-bike resotred Haro Sport from last night after I stoved it into one of them pesky new-school bikes that had brakes and I didn't, and only because I didn't want to scratch Sid's new toy the first time out
Oh well, I'll get it re-powdered when it has a few more scars - ride 'em like you stole 'em fellas
