As we suspected...... but will they be the "correct" colours ???

No chance, so you'll be able to spot them a mile off thank god, unlike the white and black ones :uglystupid2:
Still limping......

To be fair you can't blame then, they are still the original owners, the original product (not a Chinese knock-off with a sticker), using the original methods and are marking them as new.  Good luck to them I say, the wheels from the 80's will still be more desireable just because they are from the 80's.

Maybe, maybe not but research is the key and if they get stung on eGay then they will  at least have some recourse  :daumenhoch:

East way to tell is they don't have the plastic cartridge inside the hub which goes over the spindle. Also no serial numbers on the rims - if they were NOS ones they would have serial numbers on them.

Are they going to mark them in some way other than the earlier reported painted date?

I thought about a set but was worried if they'd be the "right" colour (Red)  :-\
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Tuffs are horrible to ride though- flex way too much and crack easy as + if its a windy day they are like sails, blow you off quicker than a boro hoe (but vastly more expensive :LolLolLolLol: )

These wheels, which only a small handful were made, use original alloy flanges that were NOS stock leftover from 1982.  They are hand-marked "Retro 1982" on the rim band, AND they feature a date stamp that is molded in the wheel on one of the "spokes".  If someone attempts to remove that date-stamp, they will really screw up the wheel, so I don't think that there will be any issues at all telling the difference between these and a set from 82.

This is NOT a production stock wheel.  Here is what we made using the flanges over 2 very small production runs:
Date stamps reflect the following dates.
WHITE: 20 sets on 02/18/11, AND 25 sets on 04/10/11.
BLACK: 20 sets on 02/18/11, AND 25 sets on 04/10/11.
RED: 35 sets on 04/10/11.
BLUE: 35 sets on 04/10/11.

We will be doing about 50 sets of 24" Tuff Wheels with alloy flanges in a few weeks.  We are looking at doing blue, black, and white.  We may do some red if there is enough red pigment.  We'll see.....

Can not see how much shipping will be..  At £125 + shipping + import duties, these are going to be expensive, maybe not much change from £200??

Very cool, though..
