Gearing

Got a 42T Chain Ring, and 17T Freewheel, Going on a showpony with the very occasional roll about, would this work or am i gonna be peddlin like fook and going nowhere

I always rode, and still do 45-16, 20 x 1.5 rims and tyres with 180mm cranks, lovely jubbly

My own rider preference is 44 or 45-16 anything else and i feel my legs are going like a hamster on a wheel, alternatives would be 25-9 36-11 46-17 with 165 - 180mm cranks

Really Really wanna use the Chain Ring as it NOS Tuff Neck in black with machined teeth, looks fookin lovely  wots he largers free wheel i could get?

Get a 16T freewheel. 42:16 is just about rideable.

if you want to keep the 42 front [sounds nice] then drop your rear to a 14t or 15t this will give you a better ride

get some advice first about whether a 14t or 15t will fit your hub though as i dont know

I would be aiming for around 50-53 inch per crank, 17- 46 would be a nice gear for rolling around check out the link

Drop the rear to 16t, 42-16 is a great all round gearing, I have always ran it. 42 - 17 would be spinny, ok in a park, but shat for a ride.

  That's must be about 52 -16 , try 30-11
